Buyers

1. Find a great agent

The first step is to get connected to a great agent. An experienced agent will draw up a customized game plan for you and guide you through the entire process.

2. Get prequalified

The next step is to get prequalified with a lender. It's impossible to go looking at houses unless you know how much house you can afford.

3. Create a wish list

This is where you really think about what's important. Do you want views of the mountains? Do you want to live in a cul-de-sac? Create lists of non-negotiables and preferences.

4. Search online

Use the agents online search tools and start looking. Take your time and check out different areas of town from the privacy of your bed, sofa or kitchen table. No pressure and no time restraints. Take a look around and see what interests you.

5. Look and put in an offer

After you get prequalified, know what you want and have searched online it's time to go look at homes. The more homework you and your agent do ahead of time the easier this phase will be. When you find the right house make an offer!

6. Move in!

Once your offer is accepted the clock will start ticking. You'll want to have a certified inspector check out your new home and of course an accurate appraisal. When it's all said and done it will be time to celebrate. The keys are yours and it's time to move in!
